🍴 Troop 4774 Mac & Cheese Bake-Off
Contestant Guidelines & Rules
Event Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025
Location: Jupiter First Church
Estimated Attendance: 50–100 guests
Contestant Guidelines:
1. Who Can Enter:
- Open to adults age 18 and up.
2. Recipe Rules:
- You may use any mac and cheese recipe: baked, stovetop, traditional, creative—your choice!
- You are welcome to add mix-ins like bacon, lobster, veggies, different cheeses, etc.
- The dish must clearly be identifiable as a Macaroni and Cheese creation.
3. Quantity to Prepare:
- Plan to provide at least 80–100 sample-sized portions (small “tasting” sizes, about 2-3 bites each).
- We recommend preparing one full catering pan (approximately 9×13 size or larger) of mac and cheese.
- It’s better to have a little extra than not enough!
4. Serving Details:
- Troop volunteers will help manage serving so contestants can enjoy the event too.
- You will be assigned a serving table with signage (we will provide) that includes your dish name and description if you submit it ahead of time.
5. Supplies to Bring:
- Your finished mac and cheese dish (hot and ready OR brought in a slow cooker if needed).
- Any special serving utensils if needed (we will have basic serving spoons if not).
- A name card or short description if you want to share what makes your recipe special!
6. Arrival Time:
- Please arrive between 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM to set up and warm your dish if necessary.
- Judging begins around 12:30 PM after all guests have had a chance to sample.
Guest Voting Process:
1. Each guest will receive a “Tasting Card” upon arrival, listing all contestant names or dish names.
2. After sampling all entries, guests will:
- Circle their one favorite mac and cheese on their Tasting Card.
- Drop the completed card into the official Voting Box.
3. Votes will be counted and the winner announced toward the end of the event!
Awards:
🏆 1st Place: Mac & Cheese Champion Prize + Bragging Rights!
🎖️ 2nd and 3rd Place: Recognition Ribbons or Small Prizes
Helpful Tips for Contestants:
- Consider labeling if your dish contains common allergens (nuts, shellfish, etc.).
- Bring a small extension cord if using an electric warmer or slow cooker.
- Creativity is encouraged but don’t forget the cheesy goodness that makes mac and cheese loved by all!
- Bring your biggest smile – this is a fun, friendly community event!
